Poor Man’s Whiskey is an American band originating in the San Francisco Bay Area rooted around the songwriting talents of Josh Brough and Jason Beard. Their live show and sound is blend of high octane old time/bluegrass music (often done on traditional acoustic instruments of banjo, guitar, and mandolin) and a more psychedelic blues/jam rock style.

Besides their high energy shows, Poor Man’s Whiskey is also known for their special “interpretation sets”. They gained international attention by their bluegrass rendition of “Dark Side of the Moonshine” (a bluegrass take on the classic Pink Floyd album), as well as successful interpretive sets of Paul Simon’s “Graceland”, The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, The Eagles, Old and In the Way, and Kate Wolf.

The Mother Hips' journey began at Chico State, where the band was founded by Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono. Before the band had even graduated from school, they were signed to Rick Rubin’s American Recordings on the strength of their debut album, Back To The Grotto. Over the ensuing two-and-a-half decades, they would go on to release nine more studio albums as they cemented their status as architects of a new breed of California rock and roll, one equally informed by the breezy harmonies of the Beach Boys, the funky roots of The Band, and the psychedelic Americana of Buffalo Springfield.

NOW BOOKING April 8, 9, 11 - 2021

Glen Phillips started Toad the Wet Sprocket in 1986, when he was still in high school. He was as surprised as anyone when their low-key folk rock landed them on the pop charts. When the band members decided to go their separate ways, Phillips began a solo career with Abulum followed by Winter Pays for Summer, Mr. Lemons and Secrets of the New Explorers. Always open to new projects and unlikely collaborations, he’s toured and recorded with Works Progress Administration, a band that included members of Nickel Creek, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Elvis Costello’s Attractions; Mutual Admiration Society with Nickel Creek; Remote Tree Children, an experimental project with John Askew and Plover, with Neilson Hubbard and Garrison Starr.

Hot Buttered Rum, a souped-up, left-coast string band, is the brainchild of five uniquely gifted musicians who weave their love of bluegrass, folk, jazz and soul into a riveting strain of Americana. String bass and five-alarm fiddle merge with guitar, banjo, mandolin and drums to frame the voices of its two contrasting writers, fueling a dance party with roots in Appalachia and its branches in California. It’s a sound that’s as tough to describe as it is easy to love. Nearly twenty years into its journey, HBR’s music, dreamed up in the backcountry of the High Sierra and the basements of San Francisco, has found its way into the hearts, minds and bodies of fans nationwide.

NOW BOOKING APRIL 28, 29 - 2021

(San Francisco Bay Area Only)

Throughout over three decades in music, Steve Poltz did it all and more—often shared by way of his rockin’ countrified folk slices of sardonic Americana (hatched in Halifax). Of course, he co-wrote Jewel’s multiplatinum Hot 100-topping megahit “You Were Meant For Me,” but he also went on a whale watch with her and a few federales that turned into a drug bust. The two still share the story at every festival they play together. He made his bones as the frontman for underground legends The Rugburns, who burned rubber crisscrossing the continent on marathon tours and still pop up once in a while for the rare and quickly sold out reunion gig.

Lowery also founded Sound of Music Studios with John Morand.  This long running endeavor has recorded tracks for a wide range of artists from D’angelo to Lamb of God.  The studio later spun off Shockoe Noise LLC, which specialized in custom music for commercials, film, and TV.
